Volleyball Recap: Sanger West Takes a Loss

Sanger West was the 3-1 winner over Madera when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Hornets fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sanger West actually scored more points across those five sets (106-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 28-26, 8-25, 14-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Austin Vang paced Sanger West's offense, picking up 17 kills. Vang got some help from Tizoc Cruz and his 26 assists. Elijah Guevara controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Sanger West's record is now 23-14. As for Madera, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 19-23 record.

Sanger West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Madera South on the 6th. As for Madera, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Edison on the 6th.
