Softball Recap: Temple Christian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Temple Christian dropped their record down to 7-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks by a score of 3-1. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Temple Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Camden, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Miller School of Albemarle, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.7 runs this season.

On Miller School of Albemarle's side, Emelia DelCarmen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. DelCarmen has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lani Massarella, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Looking ahead, Temple Christian will head out on the road to take on Ridgeview Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they will welcome Fredericksburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season.
