Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. Hampton Hawks

Meridian is on a three-game streak of home losses, Hampton an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Meridian Mustangs will host the Hampton Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Meridian's tournament run continued when they took on Deshler on Monday. Meridian fell 48-36 to Deshler.

Despite the defeat, Meridian got top-tier performance from Jaylee Sobotka, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Jaycee Schwisow was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hampton ended up a good deal behind Lawrence-Nelson on Thursday and lost 46-27.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Meridian against Hampton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-23 victory. In that game, Meridian amassed a halftime lead of 31-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
