Football Recap: Russell Shepard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carlyle over Red Bud

Carlyle extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 25-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Red Bud Musketeers. The Indians/Lady Indians lost against the Musketeers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 47-20 score last time.

Several Indians/Lady Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Russell Shepard, who rushed for 90 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Red Bud's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Landon Ruebusch had an outrageously good game as he picked up 86 receiving yards and three scores. What's more, he racked up 15 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Jack Ford did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 83 receiving yards.
