Softball Recap: Colby Find Success

While Colby's win against Russell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Broncos on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won five in a row.

Ryler Carter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Maddie McCarty was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Cheney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Colby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Colby's victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Russell by a score of 11-5 later that day.
