The Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Plaza Heights Christian Academy Lions at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Westwood Baptist Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Westwood Baptist Academy was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Christian Fellowship 8-7. The Eagles haven't had any issues with Christian Fellowship recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jacob Barker was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Riley Webster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Plaza Heights Christian Academy extended their postseason success on Friday against Crosspoint Christian. They blew past Crosspoint Christian 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Austin Blum, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Schieber, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive matches.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westwood Baptist Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Plaza Heights Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Westwood Baptist Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Plaza Heights Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
