Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Bloomfield Bees ended up a good deal behind the Stanton Mustangs and lost 47-28. The matchup marked the Bees' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Bloomfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Madyson Mlady almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The contest was Mlady's fifth in a row with at least 17 points.

Stanton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelby Pohlman out in front who posted six points and six steals. Pohlman has become a key player for Stanton: the team is 8-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Bergan Pohlman was another key player, going 6 for 9 to rack up 16 points and five steals.

Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Stanton, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-31 victory against Winside on the 3rd. As for Stanton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-45 loss against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 31st.
