Volleyball Recap: Scarleth Orellana Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat USC-MAE

Downtown Magnets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 8th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on the USC-MAE Trojans with a sharp 3-0 win. The Suns haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Downtown Magnets' got stronger as the match went on, holding USC-MAE to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 25-9.

Downtown Magnets' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Scarleth Orellana, who had 28 assists and six aces. Those 28 assists gave Orellana a new career-high. Dalin Ea was another key player, getting seven digs, five kills, and five aces.

Downtown Magnets' record now sits at 5-8-1. As for USC-MAE, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coincidentally, Downtown Magnets and USC-MAE will both be playing Animo Bunche the next time they take the court. The Trojans will head out to face the Stallions at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Suns will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
