Basketball Recap: Monty Edwards Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics

LKY saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against the Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics Wildcats by a score of 80-69. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.

LKY's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Monty Edwards led the charge by shooting 57% from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. Edwards has become a key player for LKY: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 13-22 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Taylor, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Despite the defeat, Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics had strong showings from Gavin Plis, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists, and Zach White, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points White has posted since back in November of 2024. Daniel Maenche was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

LKY's win bumped their record up to 15-23. As for Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-11 record.
