Recap: Jefferson Academy Jaguars vs. Wellington Eagles
The Jefferson Academy Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 69-30 win over Wellington on the road. The victory was just what Jefferson Academy needed coming off of a 67-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Jefferson Academy was led to victory by Jimeto Orji and Josh Neely. Orji scored 12 points along with five steals, while Neely scored 18 points along with six assists. Neely hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Nathaniel Dennis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Jefferson Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Wellington, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Jefferson Academy and Eagle Ridge Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Eagle Ridge Academy is ranked 158th, while Jefferson Academy is ranked 163rd). Wellington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Poudre Community Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
