Recap: Winston Red Birds vs. Meadville Eagles
The Winston Red Birds entered their tilt with the Meadville Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Winston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over Meadville on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given Winston's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Meadville is ranked 193rd).
Meadville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mason Dennis, who scored 14 points. The match was Dennis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Donivan Schreckhise was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Winston's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Meadville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Winston has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Albany at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Meadville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crest Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th.
