Softball Recap: Dexter Takes a Loss

If Dexter was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Piscataquis on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Maine Central Institute Huskies by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Abagail Trafton and Kallie Stone stepped up to the plate in a big way. Trafton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Stone went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Raelynn Anderson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dexter's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Maine Central Institute, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4.

While Dexter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
