Baseball Game Preview: Battle Ground Tigers vs. Union Titans

For the second straight game, Battle Ground will face off against Union. The Tigers will host the Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Battle Ground 2.9, Union 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Battle Ground is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Union, who was ranked 13th at the time (Battle Ground was ranked third). The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Titans 2-1 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

For Union's part, Parker Christian was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Union is 7-2 when Christian allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Christian was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with one double.

In other pitching news, Isaiah Barge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Blake Sutton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-6 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Battle Ground pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
