Basketball Recap: St. Thomas More Academy Beats Thales Academy Rolesville for Their Third Straight Victory

St. Thomas More Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 36-18 win over the Thales Academy Rolesville Knights. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-32 last Thursday.

St. Thomas More Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adella Dehring led the charge by putting up 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Dehring is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Winnie Dehring was another key player, scoring four points and eight steals.

St. Thomas More Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thales Academy Rolesville only posted two assists.

Thales Academy Rolesville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aeryn Robinson, who posted four points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Niebauer, who had five points and three steals.

St. Thomas More Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.9 points per game. As for Thales Academy Rolesville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
