Basketball Recap: Spartanburg Day Takes a Loss

Spartanburg Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 50-31 to the Southside Christian Sabres. The contest marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Owen Smith was nothing short of spectacular for Southside Christian: he posted 15 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Gibson Askew, who put up 11 points and five assists.

Spartanburg Day's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Southside Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Spartanburg Day will venture away from home to square off against Landrum at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Landrum will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Spartanburg Day surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southside Christian, they will host Spartanburg Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southside Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
