Lexington's Berniece Garcia tallied 14 points in a shutout win over Crete.
With Nebraska girls soccer heading down its final stretch, we have decided to take a look at some of the season's top offensive performances in this week's Top 10.
Lexington's Berniece Garcia edged Laina Souerdyke of Papillion-LaVista for the top spot in this week's Top 10 by scoring 14 points in a 10-0 shutout of Crete April 1. Garcia scored six goals and dished out a pair of assists in the huge win. Souerdyke is nipping at her heels after she netted four goals and dished out three assists in a 10-0 triumph over Omaha Benson in late March to notch 11 points in one contest.
Garcia, Omaha Roncalli Catholic's Morgan Mancuso and Gabrielle Garrett of Omaha Central all shared the No. 3 spot and round out this week's Top 5 after tallying 11 points in wins over York, Plattsmouth and Omaha North respectively. They each scored five goals and were credited with an assist in those performances.
Besides Garcia, the Cornhusker State's leading scorer with 40 points going into the weekend, Lexington's Citlali Prado also landed in the Top 10 twice this week after scoring 10 points in two different wins. Altogether, 11 players had scored 10 points or more in a contest when we sifted through the statistics database Tuesday evening.
As you browse through this week's Top 10, we introduce the athletes on the first line and list their stats as of Tuesday evening on line two. Of course, the third line and beyond, is reserved for each soccer players' top performance(s) of the season. Ties were broken by the number of goals the athlete contributed to in their top performances.
For instance, a player that scored four goals and dished out three assists won the tiebreaker over an athlete that tallied five goals and an assist despite scoring the same amount of points.
