Softball Game Preview: W.S. Neal Eagles vs. Escambia County Blue Devils

W.S. Neal is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Escambia County an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The W.S. Neal Eagles will host the Escambia County Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for W.S. Neal's offense. They came up short against Jackson on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Meanwhile, Escambia County lost 19-1 to Jackson last Tuesday.

Escambia County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Treasure Riley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those hits were Riley's first of the season.

Escambia County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for W.S. Neal, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Everything went W.S. Neal's way against Escambia County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as W.S. Neal made off with a 17-2 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
