Basketball Recap: Kaiser Comes Up Short

Kaiser extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-17. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Notre Dame Titans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Cats still had to take the loss.

As for Notre Dame, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-14. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points over those games.

Notre Dame was led to victory by Isacc Goodman and Jaxon Coduti. Goodman went 9-for-18 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds, while Coduti dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Goodman is becoming a predictor of the Titans' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 4-2 (and 8-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Iaroslav 'Yuri' Buinyi, who posted eight points along with 13 boards and four blocks.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kaiser will host Grand Terrace at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cats will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 73.09 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Notre Dame, they and Summit will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Titans will need to watch out since the SkyHawks have now posted at least 55 points in their last 15 games.
