Baseball Recap: John Glenn Takes a Loss

John Glenn had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it 15. They lost 10-4 to the Southampton Mariners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on April 2nd.

Armando Muniz and Dillon DeRiggi did some serious damage despite the final result: Muniz went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while DeRiggi went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was DeRiggi's first of the season.

As for Southampton, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.

On Southampton's side, Lucas Magnozzi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Magnozzi has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Dudley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Romanow, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southampton beat John Glenn by a score of 7-3 on Thursday.
