Baseball Game Preview: Bluffton Pirates vs. Crestview Knights

Bluffton hasn't had much luck against Crestview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will head out to square off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Bluffton has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bluffton is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 13-3 to Fort Jennings.

Luke Jebsen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Bluffton is 3-1 when Jebsen posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Speicher, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Crestview's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Van Wert by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Crestview now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Bluffton, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Bluffton couldn't quite finish off Crestview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
