Baseball Recap: Clearwater Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

With a playoff win on the line, Clearwater rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Blake Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Ty Woodring's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jackson King was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Clearwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in four consecutive games.

Clearwater has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Blake, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22.

Coming up, Clearwater will face off against Countryside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. Blake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
