Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Shaker Heights' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Shaker Heights's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Strongsville Mustangs by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in April.

Scout Harvey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emerson Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Shaker Heights has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Strongsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaker Heights will challenge Medina at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Strongsville, they will head out to take on Steele at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
