Football Game Preview: Kecoughtan Warriors vs. Hampton Crabbers

Kecoughtan is 2-7 against Hampton since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Warriors will head out to take on the Crabbers at 12:00 p.m. Kecoughtan has given up an average of 31.5 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kecoughtan is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Woodside on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Warriors lost 36-12 to the Wolverines. The Warriors were down 29-6 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Although Kecoughtan took the loss, they still got scores from Eric Tatum and Josiah Richardson.

Meanwhile, after only 13 points in their last matchup, Hampton made sure to put some points up on the board against Denbigh on Thursday. The Crabbers blew past the Patriots, posting a 49-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Crabbers, who have now won three games by 36 points or more so far this season.

Kecoughtan better keep an eye on Marcus Chapman. He was instrumental in Hampton's win, rushing for 82 yards and four touchdowns, while also throwing for 320 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 320 passing yards gave Chapman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sidney Johnson, who rushed for 130 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

Hampton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Kecoughtan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hampton, their record now sits at 4-1.

Kecoughtan took a serious blow against Hampton when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 34-0. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
