The Jasper Wildcats will challenge the North Posey Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jasper is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Jasper easily dispatched Evansville Central on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Jasper fell just short of Evansville Mater Dei by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. Jasper has struggled against Evansville Mater Dei recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Katelyn Young was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kate Eckerle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Sofia Aguilera also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, North Posey waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Alices with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Vikings have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

North Posey pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Jasper, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-6-1.

Jasper took their win against North Posey in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
