Softball Recap: Midland Extends Winning Streak to Four

Midland came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Midland Legacy Rebels. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Rebels back in March, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Malayah Carillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avrey Ochoa, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Bree Battenfelder, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Midland pushed their record up to 25-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Midland Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Coincidentally, Midland and Midland Legacy will both be playing Frenship the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rebels will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
