McClave is a perfect 4-0 against Springfield since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. McClave will be playing at home against Springfield at 3:00 p.m. McClave is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
McClave's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Manzanola as McClave made off with a 20-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Drew Howe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Howe was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Ryan Steinbrunn was a standout: he scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawton Annen, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
McClave always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Springfield hadn't done well against Cheyenne Wells recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Springfield came out on top against Cheyenne Wells by a score of 9-4.
Springfield let Gunner Mackey and Hudson Gourley run wild. Mackey scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Gourley scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ty Hoffman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
McClave pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McClave hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. However, it's not like Springfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
