Baseball Recap: Zumbrota-Mazeppa Comes Up Short

Zumbrota-Mazeppa fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Kasson-Mantorville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Komets. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Komets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Kasson-Mantorville, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, Kasson-Mantorville will venture away from home to square off against Winona at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Zumbrota-Mazeppa will be paying especially close attention to the Komets' contest: after the Komets face off against the Winhawks, they'll take on Zumbrota-Mazeppa again at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
