Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Teddies vs. Columbia Heights Hylanders

The Roosevelt Teddies will take on the Columbia Heights Hylanders in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Roosevelt's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Columbia Heights has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Roosevelt is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Minneapolis Southwest on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Roosevelt was outmatched by Minneapolis Southwest and fell 67-19. The matchup marked the Teddies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Roosevelt had strong showings from Sha?Sariah Works, who posted seven points and five rebounds, and Jae Lang, who put up three points.

Meanwhile, Columbia Heights came up short against St. Anthony Village on Tuesday, falling 67-45. While losing is never fun, the Hylanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Huskies are ranked 156th).

Roosevelt's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Columbia Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Roosevelt's way against Columbia Heights when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as Roosevelt made off with a 64-40 win. Will Roosevelt repeat their success, or does Columbia Heights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
