The DeWitt Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Crossett Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither DeWitt nor Rison made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Dragons never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
The result came thanks to Khloe Llyod's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Harley Grammer was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Crossett made easy work of Watson Chapel on Tuesday and carried off a 17-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Mckinnley Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Crossett let Rylee Meeks and Gracie Kilcrease run wild. Meeks went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Kilcrease went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Meeks has posted since back in March. Barrett Bays also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Crossett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
DeWitt's record now sits at 4-5. As for Crossett, their record is now 9-7.
Everything went DeWitt's way against Crossett when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as DeWitt made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
