Torrington waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Wilby Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.
Sophia Pergola and Piper Battistoni were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pergola pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Battistoni didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. At the plate, Pergola went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI, while Battistoni got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Torrington got a big performance out of Gracie Spring, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Grace Pruchnicki was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Torrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .794. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Torrington's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Wilby, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
