Baseball Recap: Cory-Rawson Comes Up Short

Cory-Rawson had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it four. They lost 22-9 to the Upper Scioto Valley Rams. If the Fighting Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Rams when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Dom Moon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Hunter Cosart was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Upper Scioto Valley, the win got them back to even at 8-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Upper Scioto Valley's side, Wyatt Davis and Mason Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Sanders, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Cory-Rawson will venture away from home to face off against Temple Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Hornets are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will welcome Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
