Baseball Game Preview: Corcoran Panthers vs. Kennedy Thunderbirds

The Corcoran Panthers will take on the Kennedy Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Corcoran is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

If Corcoran beats Kennedy with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Panthers didn't even let Woodlake on the board on Monday, marking the Panthers' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cruz Portillo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortez Portillo, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Kennedy lost 7-1 to Chavez last Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost five in a row.

Kennedy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Felipe Velasquez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Corcoran's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Corcoran might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Kennedy when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
