Basketball Game Preview: Milford Buccaneers vs. Polytech Panthers

Milford and Polytech are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Milford Buccaneers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Polytech Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Milford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Polytech likes a good challenge.

While Milford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 55-50 win over Crisfield on Monday. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 16th in Delaware, while the Crabbers are ranked 247th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Polytech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-64 heartbreaker at the hands of Pocomoke. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Polytech's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Milford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Milford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Polytech in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. Will Milford repeat their success, or does Polytech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
