Baseball Recap: Somerset Has No Trouble Against Bishop Mccort

Somerset won against Bishop Carroll last Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Eagles' way against the Bishop McCort Crushers as they made off with a 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Braeden Flower made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Lucas, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Somerset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Somerset and bumps their season record up to 11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop McCort, they dropped their record down to 7-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
