Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Comes Up Short at Home Against East Central

Central Catholic unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the East Central Hornets by a score of 6-5 on Saturday. The Buttons' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Central Catholic got a good showing from Landon Holloway, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Central Catholic saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt McClenan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on New Braunfels at 5:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for East Central, it'll be Eastside v. Westside when they and Southwest meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games East Central has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
