Basketball Recap: Bruton Skates Past York with Ease

Bruton lost to York back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Bruton Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the York Falcons 61-24. That looming 61-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Bruton was led to victory by Johnathan Hopkins and Brandon Freeman. Hopkins went 8 for 10 on his way to 18 points, while Freeman posted ten points in addition to eight assists and five steals. That's the most points Hopkins has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Lapastora, who put up eight points and four steals.

Bruton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for York, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bruton will take on Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bruton is facing Jamestown at the right time seeing as Jamestown is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for York, they will host Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
