Basketball Recap: Ezra Rivera's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Family Christian Academy over Christian Learning Academy

Family Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 61-52 to the Christian Learning Academy Eagles. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 63-48 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ezra Rivera, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Cabrera, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Family Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Christian Learning Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Family Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Circle Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Christian Learning Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against North Kissimmee Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
