Softball Recap: Choctawhatchee Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bozeman

There's no place like home for Choctawhatchee, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past the Bozeman Bucks 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 25, 2024.

AnnMarie Gilbert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abigail Santos-Ruiz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabbi Barnowsky, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Santos-Ruiz wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Choctawhatchee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Choctawhatchee is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Choctawhatchee picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Bozeman, they dropped their record down to 5-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Choctawhatchee will take on Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Choctawhatchee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. Bozeman will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Beechwood at 6:00 p.m. on March 31st.
