Baseball Recap: Pine View Find Success

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pine View walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hurricane Tigers a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Panthers have beaten the Tigers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Tristen Sylvester tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Porter Campbell was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pine View's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-11-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kobe Goodman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Pine View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pine View's victory bumped their record up to 13-11-1. As for Hurricane, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Pine View will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
