Bishop Eustace Prep dropped their record down to 7-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 7-3 to the St. Augustine Prep Hermits. Surprisingly, this marked the Crusaders' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Bishop Eustace Prep got a good showing from Lucas Edwards, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Edwards has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bishop Eustace Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dante Bell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for St. Augustine Prep, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1. Surprisingly, this marked their fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
On St. Augustine Prep's side, Jameson Dobis tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, St. Augustine Prep let Brady Jackson and Marco Christopher run wild. Jackson went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while Christopher went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Jackson a new career-high. Joe Peacock was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coming up, Bishop Eustace Prep is taking a road trip to challenge Mainland Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Augustine Prep, they will take on Gloucester Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
