Softball Recap: Miami Christian Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Miami Christian won the last time they faced Academy for Innovative Education and things went their way on Monday too. The Miami Christian Victors were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over the Academy for Innovative Education Aviators. Considering the Victors have won three contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Camila Holguin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Daniela Olvera and Daniela Marquez did most of the damage at the plate: Olvera scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Marquez went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Olvera also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Gala Marquez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Miami Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Miami Christian's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Academy for Innovative Education, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
