Baseball Recap: Barrington Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hoffman Estates

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barrington). Everything went their way against the Hoffman Estates Hawks on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Fillies/Broncos, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Barrington let Tommy Abbatemarco and Jack Swarbrick run wild. Abbatemarco went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Swarbrick went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Swarbrick has posted since April 5th. Brandon Fryer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Barrington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Barrington is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Hoffman Estates, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barrington will host Hersey at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fillies/Broncos 4, the Huskies 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hoffman Estates, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wheeling at 4:45 p.m.
