Soccer Recap: Pope Takes Down Ranked Lassiter

Pope faced Lassiter in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Greyhounds had just enough and edged out the Trojans 2-1. The victory continues a trend for Pope in their matchups with Lassiter: they've now won three in a row.

Hope Lewis and Lily Joswick scored both of Pope's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Pope pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Lassiter, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2.
