Softball Recap: Edison Vikings vs. Pitman Pride
Edison took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pitman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Edison Vikings had just enough and edged out the Pitman Pride 4-3. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 15-1 victory the Pride walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Alicia Leiva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Mariah Torres was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Leila Tatupu was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
The win got Edison back to even at 3-3. As for Pitman, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Looking ahead, Edison is taking a road trip to take on West at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. Pitman has already played their next match (against Riverbank), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
