Basketball Game Preview: Pine Prairie Panthers vs. Church Point Bears

Pine Prairie and Church Point are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Pine Prairie Panthers will be playing at home against the Church Point Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pine Prairie has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Church Point will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Pine Prairie was beaten by Northwest 71-22. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Raiders are ranked 81st).

Meanwhile, Church Point hadn't done well against Port Barre recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Church Point was the clear victor by a 67-47 margin over Port Barre.

Pine Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Church Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
