Soccer Game Preview: Chatham vs. Dan River

The Chatham Cavaliers will take on the Dan River Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chatham's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Chatham's offense. They came up short against Nelson County on Friday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Chatham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Nelson County are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, Dan River managed to keep up with Appomattox County until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wildcats lost 4-1 to the Raiders. Dan River's loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Chatham's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for Dan River, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Chatham beat Dan River by a goal in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 2-1. Do the Cavaliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
