Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Mercer Island Islanders

The Liberty Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the Mercer Island Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Liberty is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Monday, Liberty didn't have quite enough to beat Bothell and fell 2-1.

Liberty got a good showing from Konner Erickson, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Erickson gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

Meanwhile, Mercer Island didn't have quite enough to beat Juanita on Monday and fell 3-2. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Koehler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mercer Island is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Gabe Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Liberty skirted past Mercer Island 3-2 in their previous meeting on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
