Basketball Recap: Pueblo West Comes Up Short

Pueblo West played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Pine Creek Eagles and fell 69-37. The loss continues a trend for the Cyclones in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Pueblo West's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Thompson, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Those eight points gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Suazo, who had 11 points.

It was another big night for Brooklyn Stewart, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards for Pine Creek. Stewart is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leekaya Burke-Perryman, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and five steals.

Pueblo West's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Pine Creek, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Pueblo West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-20 victory against Fountain-Fort Carson on the 14th. As for Pine Creek, they have also already played their next match, a 63-26 win against Vista Ridge on the 14th.
