Basketball Game Preview: Arete Prep CHARGERS vs. Madison Highland Prep Heat

The Arete Prep CHARGERS will take on the Madison Highland Prep Heat at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Arete Prep's tournament run continued when they took on Heritage Academy on Saturday. Arete Prep opened the new year with a less-than-successful 68-58 defeat to Heritage Academy.

Arete Prep might have lost, but man, Harrison Kremer was a machine: he posted 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Kremer also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rigby Rushton, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Madison Highland Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over Valley Lutheran back in December of 2024. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Heat.

Arete Prep better focus on containing Cade Carlstrom and Roy Chavez as the pair were huge in Madison Highland Prep's win. Carlstrom dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Chavez had 12 points. Carlstrom has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycob Young, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Madison Highland Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Madison Highland Prep pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Arete Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Arete Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Madison Highland Prep in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, sneaking past 61-58. Does Arete Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Madison Highland Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
