Softball Recap: Milford Wins High-Profile Contest Against Red Lion Christian Academy

Milford faced Red Lion Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buccaneers walked away with a 7-4 win over the Lions. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Briella Salisbury made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Salisbury was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ti Adams was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Kay Wooleyhand was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Milford's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

The future could be bright for both Milford and Red Lion Christian Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Buccaneers will try to hand William Penn their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Red Lion Christian Academy will look to extend Christiana's three-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
